The Basil family is very pleased to present for sale the iconic American muscle car. This is a 1969 Camaro Z/28, best known for its high-winding V8, which became a legend in the Trans Am era. This authentic X77D80 Z28 has that unmistakable styling, paired with unmatched performance, to be recognized as only the highest caliber of muscle car appreciation. This Z28 is finished in code 57 fathom green, an iconic color on Z28s. Under the hood is its factory high-revving 302 V8, which is date and VIN-correct. The motor on this vehicle still retains its factory smog equipment, which, in today's age, is hard to find, as everyone took these cars home and removed them for horsepower gains. The Z28 was driven back from the client's house to our location for a round-trip of about an hour. During this drive, it was noted that the vehicle went down the highway with zero hesitation. The car's power was all still there, steered incredibly, shifted smoothly, with no shakes or rattles —an incredible vehicle to drive. This car is believed to be a last-day-produced Z28, as there were only about 400 cars left before the end of production, and it's been said that about 1200 cars were produced per day. This vehicle is numbers-matching throughout, with the correct DZ302, Muncie 4-speed, 12-bolt posi rear end, and the correct DZ carburetor. This vehicle is a well-sorted restoration, completed around 2008. All panel gaps are significant, and the paintwork is excellent. This Z28 was purchased from a dealer in 2009 and belonged to the gentleman up until 2015, when the last owner bought it. It had remained in that collection until September 25, having added only about 1,200 miles over the previous 16 years between the two owners.
Some documentation came with the vehicle, suggesting it had spent time in Canada before 2009, based on an import form in the file, and then went to Kansas before coming up to NYS. In the paperwork, there are a couple of appraisals showing the actual miles at the time of sale: 63,000. The underside of this vehicle is just as clean as the top, showing no signs of rust or rot. This Z28 came from the factory with the rosewood tilt column, matching green vinyl buckets, and a gauge tachometer. In some of the photos, you will see the seldom-seen fold-down rear seat. This wasn't a factory option on this car; it was added by the previous owner at a considerable expense. This is genuinely a no-excuse vehicle. Now is your chance to own an American icon.
