Presented here for your consideration is this 1967 Buick Skylark Gran Sport convertible, another hand picked vehicle presenting Joe Basil's tradition of fine automobiles since 1951.
First beginning production in 1904 and over the years, Buick prided themselves in producing classic family oriented cars that were just a cut above other manufacturers offerings. For decades, this process served Buick well until customers personal tastes began to change in the early 1950s. Starting in 1949, Buick began production of the more personalized Rivera which was a model available until 1955. In 1953, Buick offered a stunning convertible model which they named the Skylark. Only 1,690 Skylark models were built over two years due to the hefty price tag of just over five thousand dollars and 1954 brought production to a close.
1961 saw the reintroduction of the Skylark name but now offered it as an upgrade on the midsized Buick special adding luxury and larger engine options to the platform.
The 1961 performance offering was a 401ci 325hp engine for the sporty Skylark but by 1966 with the high performance era in full swing, Buick revamped the Skylark package and was now offering a 400ci engine with as much as 360hp and 445 ft. lbs. of torque which had now caused the Buick performance era to be well under way.
This 1967 Buick Skylark GS convertible represents the perfect marriage of stylish midsized luxury and surprising performance capabilities. The graceful appearance this Skylark presents immediately commands the viewers' attention. The butternut yellow paint perfectly accents the low sleek body lines which are complemented by the chrome wheel opening moldings, the factory Buick mag wheels, red wall tires and stylish Gran Sport trim. The twin hood scoops are a shuttle indication of what lies beneath. Once the hood is raised, you are met with a 400ci engine with a four barrel carburetor treated with Buicks dress up kit. Also apparent is that this Skylark is equipped with power steering, power brakes and air conditioning.
Moving to the interior, we see what sets this Skylark far above the rest. A fine black vinyl treatment throughout the interior complements the generous bucket seats, center console and factory padded dash. A gauge package, floor mounted shift and factory tachometer assist the operator in handling the business end of this fine machine and the power windows, air conditioning and wood grain steering wheel make it a pleasure to do so.
Don't hesitate, come and have a look for yourself but beware, you are going to fall for this beauty.
