Welcome to Basil Classic Cars. To those of you that are regulars, we're glad to see you back! As you may know, the Basil family has been providing excellence in automotive sales and service in the Western New York area for more than 70 years. Having recently expanded our expertise into the classic car market, we now have an extensive inventory of classic and special interest vehicles for you to consider. When in the area, please stop in to see our new showroom located at 5077 Transit Road in the Lancaster/ Depew area.
Shown here is a pristine 1928 Ford open wheel roadster. Build in a high boy configuration, this street rod is as beautiful on the underside as it is above. The prior owner who cared for this beauty for many years was a pinstriper by trade and a member of a local car club. At first glance, it is obvious this car was carefully handled. Showing only 7,588 miles on the odometer, it has been kept in near perfect condition since it was built. The body and frame have both been blocked and finished to perfection before having jet black base/clear paint applied. A subtle red pin stripe application down both sides of the body is complemented by a hand painted spider on its web with " Nocturnal" (the car's name) artfully hand painted just above.
Red steel wheels with V8 embossed poverty caps encompassed with black wall radial tires neatly provide an intentional old school look to the overall appearance. In keeping with that look, a straight axle has been used up front but is fitted with disc brakes for safety and set off with chrome shocks. Since this is a fenderless build, original style headlamps are mounted directly to the frame.
The small block Chevy engine is mildly cammed and fitted with aluminum performance heads and intake manifold topped with an Edelbrock four barrel carburetor. Headers carry the exhaust through chrome side pipes and the engine is generously appointed with chrome accessories. Power travels through an automatic transmission to the coilover twelve bolt rear end equipped with a pinion mounted emergency brake assembly.
A simple button tufted design is used on the seat upholstery with the signature spider web sewn into the upper passenger side. Just beyond the three spoked steering wheel you see seven classic instruments gauges fitted into the jet-black dash providing the driver with all the necessary driveline information. The carpeted trunk opens rearward exposing the gas tank filler. If you are a street rod fan, this open wheel roadster is a must see, its overall condition is stunning and as near perfect as you will find. Come on in and make this one yours before it gets away.
We understand that buying on the web can leave room for uncertainty of the quality or condition. At Basil we are happy to Facetime, Google Duo, or video anything that you want to see specifically. Our goal is for you to purchase in confidence. We facilitate transportation to your front door making it easy for you to purchase, then get behind the wheel of your dream machine.
